This data verified directly from the General Records Office of Scotland(have copies)

Source: hand written sheet from Mrs.H.S. Montague, 619 Rock St., LittleRock ARK in 1939. John B. Miller ERRONEOUS birth date of 1807 andlocation, marriage to Elizabeth Barr and children. Mrs. Montague gotJohn B.'s birthdate wrong. General Records Office Scotland show JohnBrown Miller born 1824 in Bo'ness Scotland (West Lothian)

In 1890, John B. and Elizabeth B. signed a mortgage for $11,300, usingsome 1167 acres as surety (source Deed records). The property consistedof all of sections 22, 23 and 24 (partial section - cut by TombigbeeRiver)

John B. was alive in 1891 as he "personally appeared" before A.C. Lanier,J.P. to sign a quit claim deed (source: deed records).

Index to Naturalization Records of Missippi courts, 1798-1906 indicatesJohn B. Miller naturalized in 9-25-1851 (Source: Lowndes Co. CircuitCourt Minutes V. 13 Pg. 274)

Curr, Jaineth 60, B. Scotland (Elizabeth Elliot Miller's sister)
Sandford, Edwin, 40, B. England, Machinest (pobably brother-in-law)

Charles, 8, B. England

We have been unable to find any recording or notice of John B.'s death.Apparently, there was a Yellow Fever epidemic in Columbus in 1893. Allvictims' bodies were cremated quickly to avoid spread of the disease(Source: Archivist in Columbus/Lowndes Co. Public Library and Archivespersonal communication). The records of those so treated were not poorlykept and the only notation may have been lists of the dead in the localpaper. I found one such list (for a short period of time - maybe a week)in one of few extant issues of the Columbus Index (?) but John B. wasn'tamong those listed.

The property (1167 acres) mortgaged above was sold on the Courthousesteps in 1893 after default on the mortgage with a Smith listed astrustee for John B. Miller. (source: Deed recorded in Lowndes Co.Courthouse).

Elizabeth Barr Miller purchased property in town in 1894 with noco-signiture by John B. (source: deed record) - implying that he was dead(or not in the picture for some other reason) by that time.

7. Elizabeth Barr

Note the info in the 1900 census is badly in error!
1900 Census Indicates:
Elizabeth was 50 at time of census (erroneous)
Elizabeth emmigrated to US in 1860 at about 10-11 years. (erroneous)
had been here for 40 years in 1900 (erroneous)

The 1840 census of New York shown Mark Barr with one male 10<>15, onemale 30<>40, one female <5, three females 5<>10 and one female 30<>40.This would allow for Mark and Ann, three older sisters (Mary Ann, Graceand Catherine), one brother, William, and Elizabeth being less than 5 YO- she would have been 1 or 2 at the time.

The 1850 census of New York shows Ann Barr as head of household withWilliam (clerk), Cath(erine) 20YO, Grace 16 YO, Mary A. 14 YO andElizabeth 12 YO.

These censuses argue that she was born in 1838 in Lanark. Themis-information in the 1900 census is some sort of anomaly. It wouldappear that she was trying to lose 10 years!

Note: My mother, Jessie Norman Hope, and my aunt, Elizabeth NormanPuchta, remember their Grandmother, Elizabeth Barr Miller, telling themthat she was born in Scotland and that she came from Lanark Scotland.

She died in Union Springs and is buried in the Norman Lot. The stoneerroneously indicates a birth date of 1855

General Records Office of Scotland and the LDS CD of information fromthis office do not indicate an Elizabeth Barr being christened in Lanark.
