According to Childs in Reliques of the Rives/Ryves ( p.1), Hutchin'sHistory of Dorset, 3rd. Ed., Viii, describes a Richard Symonds diaryentry 1644 describes tomb of Robert Ryves: "Between the pillars of thechancel and the north yle stands another playne altar tombe, whereon isthis inscription inlayd in brasse, and this coate only, west end:--
"'Argent , on a bend cotised sable three lozenges ermine, Ryves'."
"HERE LIETH THE BODY OF ROBERT RYVES
WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE
THE 11th DAY OF FEBRUARY ANNO 1551.' "Robert Ryves purchased Randleston or Ranston in 1545 and Damory Court atBlandford in 1548 (Childs, Reliques of the Ryves, P.1)
