According to Childs in Reliques of the Rives/Ryves ( p.1), Hutchin'sHistory of Dorset, 3rd. Ed., Viii, describes a Richard Symonds diaryentry 1644 describes tomb of Robert Ryves: "Between the pillars of thechancel and the north yle stands another playne altar tombe, whereon isthis inscription inlayd in brasse, and this coate only, west end:--
"'Argent , on a bend cotised sable three lozenges ermine, Ryves'."
"HERE LIETH THE BODY OF ROBERT RYVES
WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE
THE 11th DAY OF FEBRUARY ANNO 1551.' "

Robert Ryves purchased Randleston or Ranston in 1545 and Damory Court atBlandford in 1548 (Childs, Reliques of the Ryves, P.1)
