England on the Sharp's narrow boat Hawkeye.

Day 13, May 27 To Worsley.

After Dot and Chris went to the post office while Frank and I worked around the boat, we headed out for Worsley. Worsley is a suburb of Manchester and required that we travel through the outskirts of this industrial city.

First thing we saw???? Yep, the ubiquitous ducks.

This impressive old church was off the canal between Lymm and Sale

More yellow Irises along the canal.

As we enter Manchester, this building caught my eye. Linotype!!! Now that's history.

Here's a switch . . . a Canada Goose with a brood of goslings!

Artistic Canal Markers are the mode in Manchester too.

A Swam with a signet nestled among the feathers on her/his back.

And another Canada Goose family with goslings.

We were amazed at the numbers of flowers (wild???) growing along the canal as we passed through the industrial portion of Manchester. These are a few of the many we saw along the way.

Oh C'mon! A light house on the canal!!! We ran into the owner of the cruiser in a pub later in our travels. Talk about coincidences!

One of the interesting things we encountered on this leg of our tour was the change in color of the water in the canal. The change from dark brown to orange can be seen in the Google Earth image above. Apparently, the orange-red color is a product of the mining in the area.

We reached Worsley mid afternoon and moored at the City Park on Barton St. After drinks and chips, we wandered over to the Bridgewater Inn (after the Bridgewater Canal) for their internet access - and, of course, had to drink a pint to justify the internet use (grin). Dinner aboard Hawkeye and to bed.
